Carter Stewart was on the verge of creating his first feature-length film when President Obama appointed him the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio in 2009. Fifteen years later, Stewart has finished his short film “Lyrical.” It will be screened at the 2024 Montclair Film Festival.

In 1977, Melissa Ludtke sued the baseball commission for denying her access to the New York Yankees clubhouse as a violation of her 14th amendment rights. She won, granting her access into the men’s clubhouse and majorly contributing to the fight for women’s access in sports. Now, in 2024, Ludtke is telling her story in a new book “Locker Room Talk: A Woman’s Struggle to Get Inside.”

Acorn General Store, which opened on July 3 at 41 Church Street, greets visitors with vintage lettering hinting at the unique treasures inside. Owners Darya Mishina and Jacob Baccus have introduced vintage and sustainable shopping to Montclair, a community that values both. For Mishina, a New Jersey native, opening the store in Montclair marks a meaningful accomplishment.
